The third certainty after death and taxes is washing-up. The evening has to take a hiatus as you clatter your way through a mountain of dirty dishes, or worse, leave them until the morning when they will take twice as long. Cater for a family of three or more and the time statistic spent washing racks up alarmingly. With Christmas around the corner you also have the prospect of cooking for a whole houseful of guests and family members.
Why not free up a bit of your precious time, and get a dishwasher. Previously seen as an expensive luxury, they are becoming a necessity for a time-poor lifestyle. Lets face it we all could think of things wed rather be doing than scrubbing yesterdays porridge tide marks off cereal bowls! Advances in manufacturing technology mean that todays models are both water and energy efficient, and make far less environmental impact compared to those of only a few years ago. Even better, quality manufacturers are making cheaper models that fit or blend in to even the most cramped of kitchens.
Other items that used to be too expensive or too energy-hungry to run have also undergone a bit of a revolution. Large larder-style fridges can be run without the US-style budget required or having to buy additional appliances to store your groceries. Ice makers and cold drink dispensers are now optional, todays consumers are more interested in flexible storage and anti-frost systems.
Now may be a good time to revisit that oven too. Many fitted kitchens make savings by installing cheaper and energy-hungry ovens. As they get a lot of use these can start to look shabby in a short period of time, however there are new and modern fitted oven replacements. Your old oven can be replaced in a straight swap by a qualified installer and hey presto – one modernised kitchen at a fraction of the cost.
